TV News channels, Are you delivering what is necessary?
TV as we all are aware is an easily accessible source of information to a layman. It is one of the best inventions in the 21st century. Unfortunately, one must learn from our Indian News channels how not to function.
In fact it must still be told on what to telecast and what not to. I was appalled by the 3 days continuous live relay of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai. Wouldn’t the terrorists inside become aware of steps being taken away. All the efforts from the nation’s defense to restore harmony would be futile. Such naive behavior is totally unacceptable. I am sure the drama lasted for 3 days in the first place because of this live telecast. Journalism is not justified if a News channels TRP is high, it just means the other channels are worse.
One more area of their interests seems to be celebrities, gossip news. Somebody tell them it’s only a part of life. The Big B gets admitted we have live relay for half a day till the hospital guards shout at our media to go away. Rajnikanth movie release, we have the trailer played a 1000 times. A decision against an Indian batsman, the video is played over and over again. At the end of the day the question to ask yourself “What is the point in doing all these?, Who is going to be benefited?”.
Breaking news has lost its meaning. Everything is breaking news in India. A policeman beats up a lady in Hyderabad bus stand. This video was telecasted on and on and on. After each telecast, the reporter comes on screen and blabbers about “human rights, women rights and other rights that exists”. I watched it for 20 minutes to find out whether they will report the reason for the assault, but in vain. The next day paper reported that the lady was drunk and causing nuisance. “Just because you have telecast rights, doesn’t give you the right to talk what ever you want”. This article might go on forever, unfortunately I feel ashamed having said this.
Now that we have analyzed the problem, let’s look at the solution. How many of the tax payers know that IT returns can be re filed even after 6 months of the current financial year if there was delay in getting the proofs for the same. How many of us know how to interpret a court order, or even know basic law? I know a million people whose weekends are lackadaisical. Dedicate one program which imparts basic knowledge on any field of your choice. There is no rule in India, that Nehru/Gandhi must be remembered only during the national festivals (am happy at least they are remembered then). Anyway, I myself am personally interested in history. Some day even the wars we fought might help us solve a global issue. How much is it going to take for you guys to put up a show explaining the cause of wars? The power of media is just unimaginable. Make the change during the current adverse times; make a difference in at least one Indian a day. Your TRP will be sky rocket high.
Raju, this is what i have got to say
It was just another day in office; I was doing my regular work when all of a sudden I saw a mail popping up reading “Satyam CEO letter of confession”. The letter was not appalling as it was expected to be. I was always sure that in all corporates be it private or government some means of wrong doings will be going on so that the company will make enough profits. Its business at the end of the day, there’s no doubt in it. So what burned me so much? Here it is. The letter claimed that inflated sum of money has been shown on the balance sheets; in reality these funds are not present. This fraud has been going on for years now and this inflated amount went on increasing each year. The letter goes on to say this was done out of choice and also that the board of directors were not involved in this. This inflated amount was shown in the balance sheets in order to get more business by showing that their company is in profit. Each year this amount kept on increasing without choice. It also goes on to say that the Maytas take-over was going to be part of solving this issue. (How asinine can they get, take another com-pany’s balance sheet and replace it with your, Is that what they planned?). Let us start analyzing things from a layman point of view, now that we know the contents of the letter. First up, to pull of a 70 billion scam from an auditor’s eye is impossible. Either you bribed them or threatened them. We all know what happens in India. Two days after the letter was mailed to every mailbox on earth three Board of directors resign. The chief finance officer attempts suicide. As per the letter none of them were involved in the scam what so ever, it was Raju and Raju alone. IT department starts digging into Raju’s assets, the outcomes are mind-blowing. Acres of land registered in his relations names, taxis running around city with liquid cash. The ultimate question I would like to ask all readers. When can we trust these guys? The confession letter was the biggest lie of them all clearly. No one knows for sure why he revealed the scam now? The monopoly still seems to exist even today from the employer end. The situation is totally unacceptable; these employees have sweated it out for your company day in and day out. Every employee is an asset to the company, how can you bail out on all of them and still want to escape.
